"What's the trail like? A short but challenging 5.4-mile round-trip, this hike summits at a historic fire lookout shelter with views of Mt. Baker, Mt. Rainier, and the Olympics. Any standout features or must-sees? A restored fire lookout at the peek is a popular spot for a sheltered picnic. Was it easy to get around? You'll want real hiking boots and some fitness and experience for this hike; check in with the ranger station before you head up. To park, you'll need an annual Northwest Forest pass ($30) or National Parks day pass ($5), purchased ahead of time online or at a Forest Service office. All said and done, what—and who—is this best for? It's a rewarding climb, but not recommended for total novices." - Hannah Kirshner
