The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood

"Why book? If you’re looking to spend a night on the town in “New Hollywood” or a stay with modern amenities to keep you comfy while taking meeting at nearby studios like Netflix or Buzzfeed, The Godfrey offers the area’s largest rooftop pool, and some of the best views of the Hollywood Hills from their well-appointed rooms. Set the scene Located in an area of Hollywood being dubbed both the Vinyl District and New Hollywood, the clientele is a mix of entertainment professionals working with the nearby studios, and tourists on holiday looking to hobnob where the stars of said networks’ shows like Selling Sunset dine. The California-style lobby brings the outside in with floor-to-ceiling retractable glass walls, but the real star of the property is the rooftop, with its 70-foot-tall projection mapping video wall, two bars, swimming pool, and cozy fire pits. And did we mention the rooftop is pooch-friendly? The backstory The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood is owned and operated by Oxford Hotels & Resorts, which also owns famed historic San Francisco spots like the Hotel Griffon and the King George Hotel. They’re entering the area south of Sunset Boulevard where other luxury hotel brands have recently opened including The Thompson, Tommie, Mama Shelter, Dream Hotel, and the forthcoming Selma Hotel. The rooms Centered around the glitz and glam this part of L.A. is known for, you’ll find luxe brass finishes, rain showers, and sparkly black marbled surfaces that are meant to resemble the flash of cameras going off on the red carpet. If you’re looking to really soak in the Cali sunshine, splurge on a suite for extra space that includes a Juliette balcony opening onto a private courtyard space with lush greenery and lounge furniture. Food and drink While the restaurant concepts aren’t driven by celebrity chef talent, the casual California fare is met with a great selection of wines that makes for an easy night in. The service Service is low-key and casual, but the knowledge base of the area is there. While its easy to fall into the tourist traps of Hollywood, be sure to ask about architectural tours and off-the-beaten-path hikes for locals only, and the concierge will have you covered. Eco effort Bike valet and bike parking, electric vehicle charging stations, solar panels on the rooftop, energy-efficient smart thermostats make for an earth-friendly stay. Accessibility Accessible rooms with roll-in showers are available. \" - Krista Simmons
