"What’s this place all about? From its location within the Emirate's cultural epicenter, Al Seef marries the city’s heritage with contemporary offerings. The 1.1-mile precinct that hugs the Dubai Creek is split into two areas: one dedicated to the past and another to the future. Meander through the charming laneways, stop and have a coffee or a meal at one of the many restaurants and cafes, or simply sit and watch the activity on the creek from one of the tranquil public spaces. What’s it like being there? The bustling waterside precinct is buzziest in the evenings. Come at sunset for the best snaps. Is there a guide involve? Al Seef doesn't have dedicated guides, but there are plenty of third-party tour companies that make this a stop. Who comes here? Al Seef is popular among Emirati families, expats, and international visitors. Did it meet expectations? This relatively new urban development has been welcomed by both residents and tourists alike. To wander along the creek is to experience one of the oldest parts of the city, and that alone offers valuable insight into how the Dubai we know today came to be. Deira, the city’s main commercial district, is just a short abra (traditional water taxi) ride away, and the Al Fahidi Historical District not too far down the road. What, or who, do you think it’s best for? It's worth reserving a few hours to meander here. Evenings are best if you're keen on experiencing the landmark's bustling family vibe, and it's a more comfortable choice in winter than in the dead heat of summer." - Melinda Healy
