"Following the airing of HBO's gripping Chernobyl drama, tourists flocked in droves to see the nuclear disaster site up close. Now, in response to May's 30 percent visitor increase compared with the same month last year, Ukraine's government has announced that the site is to become an official tourist attraction. That means Chernobyl will get new walking trails for visitors, improved cellphone service, new waterways, and information points throughout the area. Long-standing filming restrictions will also be lifted."
