Wydown Hotel

"How did it feel walking in? There is a cool to this 12-room boutique hotel. The lobby draws you in, inviting you to hangout a while and play a board game with your fellow travelers. The Gary Blum art on the walls is the kind you wish you could hang on your walls to impress your friends.  What's the backstory? Locally-owned, the Wydown is located in a historic building in downtown St. Helena. Owner Mark Hoffmeister’s appreciation for art is visible throughout the hotel, with pieces from both local artists and collections from his travels. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? Natural tones make the rooms feel extra warm and comfortable.  The bed is so cozy you just might sleep through your noon wine tasting. Assuming you do make it out to the vineyards, you can come back and temper all that wine with some complimentary Nespresso coffee or a refreshing Izzy soda. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? It’s free and reliable. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? To fuel up for your Napa adventures, the complimentary continental breakfast in the Tea Room is a great choice. The hotel surprises its guests with chocolate or wine tasting in the afternoon and occasional pop-ups with local food businesses. There is no full-service restaurant on the property, but hey, you are in St. Helena, so there's not shortage of places  to go. And the service? Everyone is incredibly helpful in making reservations and recommending places to go if you came without an itinerary. What type of travelers will you find here? Mostly couples or friends escaping the San Francisco fog for a night or two. You will see people sporting jeans and Patagonia t-shirts as well as khaki pants and polos. A full spectrum of Napa visitors What about the neighborhood? How does the hotel fit in? Wydown does lots of collaborations with artists, food business, and winemakers that make it a great team player. It's also refreshing to have a hotel in a mid-price range offering such superb service and comfort. Any other hotel features worth noting? Guests have complimentary access to the nearby Health Spa Napa Valley, including a fitness studio, lap pool, hot tub, and spa services (for an extra charge). Bottom line: Why are we choosing Wydown? Because you want to set up shop somewhere you can leave your car parked and spend the day strolling between your activities." - Ana Kamin
