Hotel Granduca Houston

"Set the scene for us.From the moment you step foot on this property in Uptown Park, you'll feel like you're staying in an Italian villa. The Granduca attracts locals in droves, for both staycations and events. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Staycationers. Thoughts about your room? The traditional junior suite has a spacious floor plan with a living room, dining room, and bedroom. The decor feels a bit like a B&B in Tuscany, save, perhaps, the very large—and very American—walk-in shower. Any special in-room amenities we should know about? There's complimentary wifi and water. A kitchen is a nice touch—you can heat up leftovers and whip up your own food. And the plush terry cloth robes threaten to turn even the most ethical among us into a kleptomaniac. Did anything else at the hotel really wow you?An enchanting pool is ideal for happy hour (try The 1080, the hotel's signature cocktail), and there's a great Afternoon Tea. On Saturday nights, hit the bar—you won't soon forget the live jazz musician who really brings the hotel to life. So, who should book a room?If you fancy culture and interior design, you must make a weekend out of your stay at this enchanting Houston treasure." - Diana Oates
