"A matcha-focused tea and dessert shop is opening a second location this fall in Asiatown’s Dun Huang Plaza on Bellaire Boulevard as a franchised outpost owned by a close friend of founder Joseph Be (27). The brand, which began in Plano with Japanese tea house–inspired interiors, is known for a wide menu of matcha-infused soft serve, floats, lattes, tea, shaved ice, smoothies, ice cream, and parfaits that can be topped with granola, red beans, strawberry sauce, whipped cream, matcha jelly, mochi balls, and in-house matcha chocolate. The Houston outpost will carry the same popular menu with some food items tailored to the area and will translate the tea-house aesthetic with added Space City–specific flair. Coming from a family of Dallas and Houston restaurateurs and having learned to cook at 12, the founder plans rapid expansion across Texas (and additional franchised locations, including Los Angeles) with the stated goal of establishing a strong Texas presence; the Houston shop will be the city’s second matcha-focused cafe alongside Matcha Cafe Maiko." - Alaena Hostetter
