We were excited for the concept but ended up with a disappointing experience. When we first walked in there was a weird sewer smell. Not sure where it’s coming from as it wasn’t as bad towards the back which is where their bathroom is. The ordering was also odd. The staff didn’t greet us nor were they helpful navigating the menu which could use more pictures and graphic design help. They didn’t tell us they were out of level 3 or 4 till after we ordered. The menu mentions a small pint and large pint. A pint is a standard unit of measurement. You can’t have a small or large version. The counter has the containers labeled regular and large. “Large” seems like an actual pint. While the desserts were decent they were overpriced. Since we didn’t get to try level 3 or 4, the level 2 wasn’t much different than what you could get elsewhere with out the sewer smell.

Great experience trying this specialised Matcha shop I asked Chat GPT to recommend the best Matcha cafés in Houston and this was one of the top rated Macha cafés that serve Matcha coffee as well as soft serve forms of Matcha that came up. It was a bit of a drive for us but we decided to check it out. We got the Matcha latte as well as the lavender Matcha latte. It was great because they were able to customise it and make the sugar levels lower since I don’t like drinks that are too sweet and I also requested for less ice that they were able to accommodate. We also got the Matcha ice cream which honestly was the thing that I like the most out of everything that we got. The cakes looked really interesting which we will try maybe another time, but overall this place scored a strong four. They also sell ceremonial Matcha powder and Premium Matcha powder if anybody is interested in getting that.

My friend and I initially wanted to try a different matcha place but we decided to come here instead and we don’t regret our decision! It’s very cute inside and the matcha is so yummy, and that’s coming from a person who is not a big matcha drinker. Def recommend coming here tho!!

Google
I’m so sad that I only got to experience this place one because it would break my bank from coming everyday. If you’re a fan of sweet or bitter matcha, this is the place for you! They offer soft serve, shave ice, lattes, or ice cream. For the matcha they offer levels of “strongness” 1-4 depending on how strong you would like it. They also do offer other flavors such as ube, thai tea, cookies and cream, black sesame, and pandan for their ice creams! My boyfriend for the ube soft serve and it was such a delicious, strong ube flavor. My son got the cookies and cream ice cream, which is a simple classic you can’t really go wrong or mess up with. Whereas I got the matcha shave ice. This option gives you the choice to pick two toppings along side with it, where it comes with the matcha flavor shave ice and your choice of soft serve by default. I of course picked the matcha soft serve, which was extremely flavorful and I’m assuming was the level one flavor because it wasn’t too strong, but so delicious still yet. And for toppings I picked the matcha boba and mochi balls which were the perfect texture and consistency, not too tough, nor too soft. Other toppings consisted of red bean, black sesame, chia seeds, whipped cream, strawberry sauce and matcha chocolate. Such difficult decisions when it came to how I wanted my dessert. The number of customers in the shop when we visited just goes to show how awesome this place is! Definitely recommend this place for matcha and non matcha lovers! They have a flavor for everyone!

Google
I've been a customer since this place first opened, and I truly hope the owner sees this feedback. Lately, the quality has noticeably gone down. Either the ingredients are running low, or the drinks just aren't being made the same anymore. Yesterday, I ordered the famous matcha latte, and it was disappointing, it tasted like bland water. There was barely any matcha flavor at all. I really hope this can be addressed because I used to love coming here.

Google
The matcha strawberry latte was SWEEEEET.... as in too much sugar. I recommend cutting the sugar down.

Google
by the time i come here they are sold out of matcha at night but its okay because they offer other options. i got a matcha sort serve and it definitely hit the spot!

Google
I've been looking for a cafe in which they specialize on matcha drinks and came across this one and definitely did not disappoint! The taste of the drink was a 100% delicious and also the atmosphere was very chill! Absolutely a cafe to visit if you're a big fan of matcha drinks!

Yelp
This place was super cute! From the vibe, to wall art, to the people! Can't speak to the drinks but can give you the 411 on what my friends said. How can you not get matcha here! My friend was able to adjust her sweetness and loved loved loved her matcha drink. My other friend got the hojicha coconut and i did have a sip. A little bit more earthy and nutty without the bitterness. Now, the ube soft serve is where I chime in...a must have!! If you don't get The ube soft serve here then what are you even doing!? The ube flavor is amazing, the consistency is perfect, and the cone topped it off. 1000% recommend. Don't leave this place without getting it.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Nut allergy friendly, I didn't even ask. A cute dessert shop with more options than just matcha! They do have matcha soft serve and ice cream, with the ice cream having several levels of matcha intensity. There are other ice cream flavors like ube too! It is a bit pricier. Service was very quick as there was no line when we went. We got one scoop of the matcha ice cream at Level 4 and it was enough for 3 people to have a little each. We really liked the intensity of the matcha overall. Would return again to try other flavors or do a comparison between the levels.

Yelp
My friend tried this matcha place in Houston Chinatown called ninja matcha and was raving about it so we came back to get some for dessert. They recommended the level 3 matcha ice cream and I got it in a cone. You can tell the matcha is really high quality and deep in flavor compared to other casual places. It had a touch of bitterness and a light natural sweetness. My friends also got a matcha latte and a matcha ice blend and liked it. I got the cone but I recommend the cup for convenience and less messiness

Yelp
Came in Friday night around 10 pm, had a steady stream of customers but able to find seating easily. Got the matcha shaved ice, was massive, easily enough for 2 people for 9$, pretty good deal. Ambiance is fairly casual but seems like a good way to end a date.

Yelp
This place was very tasty! Service is very quick and the location is nice and clean. Parking is kind of difficult on the weekends due to the plaza but nothing out of the ordinary there. Strawberry Matcha (2/5): Nothing too crazy. Not a strong strawberry flavor and the matcha here was also mild overall very bland. Hojicha Latte (4/5): This was very tasty! It had a strong tea flavor and was great on a cold day. Matcha Icecream Level 2 (4/5): The level two had the perfect amount of bitter but still slightly sweet. My friend said it's very close to the flavor of matcha icecream she had in japan! Panda Icecream (4/5): I love pandan flavored things so this was a favorite for me.

Yelp
Oh my goodness found this cute little matcha ice cream place! They have cute murals on the wall, definitely great for photo-ops! They have Soft serve, affogato, all sorts of unique asian ice cream flavors such as ube, black sesame, of course matcha, and more! There's also a huge selection of lattes, teas, and other beverages! As it was my first time trying this place, I had to get their Matcha soft serve and it was delish! The perfect amount of matcha flavor with enough sweetness to balance it out so that it's not bitter! I highly recommend this place for all you Matcha Lovers, I know I'm going back to try the other ice creams, desserts, and lattes!
google avatar

Kristy S.

Yelp
I got these sesame matcha latte 50% sugar. Drink was pretty good. Service was friendly but they were confused on who ordered what and forgot to make my drink. Like that's all I ordered. Anyway I'll come back to try their soft serve another day.
google avatar

Michelle Y.

Yelp
Checked this place twice during my visit in Houston and I would definitely recommend their soft serve! I didn't care for the drinks though, matcha summer and matcha paradise (not pictured). The carbonation wasn't a good mix in my opinion. The matcha paradise had a very strong mint taste that it overpowered the matcha. Place was really clean and the restrooms are for customers only so make sure you ask for a receipt as it'll list the door code and Wi-Fi password. Parking can be hectic but this area is huge so just park so where and explore all the different goodies they have to offer around! The wall art inside really cute and makes a nice photo op.
google avatar

Megan C.

Yelp
It was quiet with not a lot of customers. I decided to get a matcha level 2 soft serve for me I thought maybe it was too much matcha even though I love my matcha, maybe I love the creaminess more. For example I love my matcha lattes, and matcha bubble waffle from happy lemon, but I guess level 2 was pushing the borders where I didn't necessarily enjoy my soft serve, thank goodness I got it in a cone to help I'll stick with level 1 for the creaminess and matcha lattes
google avatar

Yelp
The matcha float here is absolutely fantastic! It's incredibly sweet and smooth, making it a delightful treat. The workers are super friendly and always provide great service. Plus, this place is a hidden gem for studying--it's secluded and quiet, perfect for getting some work done. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I love matcha so this cafe is a must for me to try. The cafe has cute wall painting, and it is clean and quiet. I had the matcha shaved ice with mochi balls, and red bean for toppings, and black sesame as my choice of soft serve. The black sesame soft serve was yummy. The black sesame taste was strong enough, and the soft serve was smooth. The matcha shaved ice itself was awesome. Matcha was bitter with hint of sweetness. Exactly what Matcha should taste like. However I was disappointed with the mochi balls. There were only two given, and the worse part was the mochi balls were a little hard when they should be soft and chewy. If I were to visit the cafe again, I would try the soft serve instead.

Yelp
The best matcha soft serve evaaaaaa I have looked for a good matcha soft serve and latte for a longggg time after my trip to Seattle, there was a matcha shop in Seattle which becomes my fave spot and i was so craving for that. I tried Saigon Art Matcha and Le'Drip but they are not good as I expected from what i read on reviews. Saigon Art Matcha - their ice cream is too sweet and you can taste the milk more than the matcha, Le'Drip - a new spot just open in chinatown, i ordered matcha latte even add extra shot of matcha it still taste milky and medium cup approximately is same size with talle size of starbucks for $6.15 w/o tax. BUT, Ninja Matcha is just perfect what i need and I'm totally addicted!! Definitely will come back to try sesame ice cream and levels' matcha ice cream *curiously*
google avatar

Yelp
Last night we ordered matcha latte. All our 4 orders were bland and mostly milk the iced ones tasted worst.
google avatar

Diana L.

Yelp
I've gotten soft serve here along with various matcha drinks (like their coconut and lavender variations). If I'm in the area this is my go to place because I love a lavender matcha, and I have to get 2 because if not my boyfriend will drink all of mine even if we mean to "share it" lol. Staff is quick and nice here. We always end up staying inside since it's a chill place to hang out at.

Dulce B.

Yelp
This is the best place for matcha!!! I just love it and service is quick and friendly, my drink was divine.

David A.

Yelp
The ice cream is good, but the workers look annoyed when someone comes in. I came in the store to order my ice cream he looked mad for some reason? After I ordered he gave me my order, he walks away to go outside the workstation to sit in the table to get back to his computer, then I walk to get a spoon and there are no spoons so I try to call him but he doesn't budge. I try to walk towards his table but he doesn't even try to look up, as if he's trying to ignore me. I had to use a fork to eat it, I couldn't even enjoy it after half way of eating it since it kept slipping through the fork... at least try to give good customer service until I get everything I need, it's not that hard.
google avatar

Allison W.

Yelp
Not that many people were there when we came Sunday night. The level 2 matcha ice cream is very balanced and has a strong matcha flavor without it being overwhelming. In contrast, the matcha soft serve on the shaved ice tastes like nothing if you eat it after eating the level 2. The cashier was nice and they were quick with our order.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Fun dessert place! We got the matcha parfait and all the layers blended really well together. I especially liked the matcha ice cream and cereal together. It was really fun to make different combos every time you take a bite. We came on a weekday afternoon and there was no line. It was clean and had a nice atmosphere.
google avatar

Calvin W.

Yelp
Had the level 2 matcha ice cream. Very strong, high grade matcha was used. Strong notes of rich umami and vegetal in the matcha ice cream, with acceptable grassiness. Excited to try Level 3. The shaved ice is a real hit as well. Pairs amazingly with red bean and soft serve, weaker matcha ice cream. Very unique even for Houston Asiatown. Inside is a standard asian-themed vibe, with ample seating and the occasional studier. Service is fast and professional. I would return any time on a hot summer day I'm craving a bump of good, good matcha.
google avatar

Lily L.

Yelp
Came here after dinner because I was craving for dessert. Funny that I came to a matcha dessert place but ended up ordering pandan soft serve. I have always been curious about the taste, but I was little disappointed because the ice cream was really sweet and I don't really taste the pandan flavor, only vanilla to me. The service was ok, not really anything special. The ambience was nice though, chill music playing and the shop looks clean and neat. I love their artsy walls, great for pictures.
google avatar

Janet N.

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday afternoon and it's not busy at all. Ordered a matcha afrogatto and it was very good. It has a nice balance. Customers service is lacking. No thank you and not welcoming.

Marcos M.

Yelp
This place is amazing ice Cream 5 star !!! service was awesome!! and mango smoothie was amazing

Yelp
I definitely was not feeling this place. I got to try 3 of their items and they were lackluster & needing a lot of improvements. The place looks nice, service was okay but the desserts were close to being a joke. Here's what we ordered. * Black Sesame ice blended- it just tasted like ice with a pinch of black sesame. This drink needs a lot of help. What's sad is that we had to add some sesame sauce from the Matcha shaved ice to give it more flavor. * 2 scoops of Black sesame ice cream- it was weak in terms of any black sesame flavor & it wasn't as creamy as I would've liked it. * Matcha shaved ice with black sesame sauce with red bean- this was probably the best out of the 3. The sesame sauce was potent & flavorful. The red beans had a good amount of sweetness to it. The matcha ice cream was creamy & the matcha flavor was there. But I didn't enjoy the matcha shaved ice because it had more of a slushy consistency versus it being light, airy, fluffy & with a creamy texture. Overall it was a very underwhelming experience & maybe it was their off day. I will however give this spot another chance.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
This is the spot for any matcha lover!! Got the matcha latte! Sooooo creamy and good!! Definitely had a nice matcha kick to it! Not overly sweetened either which is key!
google avatar

Evelyn L.

Yelp
Love love love!!! I first tried this place years ago but I haven't been back because I forgot about it. I'm so glad I passed by after so many years. This is def one of my favorite places in China town. I'm obsessed with matcha and I love all the selections to choose from. If you are huge matcha fan this spot is for you. 5/5
google avatar

Alysse H.

Yelp
The matcha in both desserts was strong yet delicious. For the soft serve, the swirl was very light and had the perfect sweetness. The level 2 matcha is advertised as perfect for matcha lovers- if you are not the biggest matcha fan, I would recommend the soft serve swirl or go down to level 1. I would say it is a bit expensive for the amount that you get, but anyone who loves matcha should try this place at least once! For ambiance: as you can see in the photo, there is cute decor and a calm vibe! :)
google avatar

Jessica Z.

Yelp
Tried out this spot and was a nice change from my usual boba. We tried the shaved ice with matcha ice cream topped with mochi balls and red bean which was quite a large portion size. The matcha ice cream was creamy and not too sweet and the red bean provides a nice texture and sweetness. However, the shaved ice could have been softer. My friends ordered the yuzu blended float which was tangy and paired well with the combination of the matcha ice cream. Overall, a nice dessert option if you are looking for something different from your usual boba run!
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
On a Friday night, we were the only customers. Music is playing so quietly, its barely heard. it feels like you have to whisper so as to not have your voice heard throughout the store. The interior is decorated cutely. Ambiance leaves much to be desired though. Mille crepe cake - they had 2 flavors for the day. I had chocolate. The taste was good. However, it didn't really have distinctive layers. They all blend together when you eat it and taste like one big mass, which kinda defeats the purpose of getting a crepe cake... overpriced for a "regular" slice of cake Soft-serve matcha vanilla swirl was good, not too sweet either.
google avatar

Winnie G.

Yelp
Love love love the matcha soft serve here! It's my go-to and I crave it all the time especially during this Houston summer heat! Matcha flavor is strong, not overly sweet, and so smooth! The interior wall decor is beautiful and they have a reward system where after you buy 5 items, you get one free! Price is kind of expensive but I think it's due to the high quality matcha used to make their items. Staff is not rude but also doesn't talk much and not overly friendly. It doesn't get too busy during the day time which is nice because there's no wait! I always come back!
google avatar

Julie L.

Yelp
Honestly was so excited to try this but it wasn't good at all. Got 100% sweeten which wasn't the problem but it was the matcha powder itself. Tasted poor quality, guessing not ceremonial grade. Oat milk used is planet oat! Overall would not go back! Still looking for best matcha in Houston.

Taylor B.

Yelp
Not sweet enough for the price :( May try something else since they specialize in Matcha tea, coffee, and ice cream
google avatar

Taylor S.

Yelp
Solely reviewing based off of the matcha soft serve. Good sized serving for soft serve for ~$6. I enjoyed the relatively strong matcha flavor, and it was creamy without being too icy. Ninja Matcha has a wide variety of matcha drinks and desserts, which all looked delicious!
google avatar

Canny F.

Yelp
What attracted me to come here was the multitude of different matcha levels you can select for the ice cream. I distinctly remember shops in Kyoto, Japan doing this kind of selection. I like the more bitter and stronger tones of Matcha, not the westernized versions most matcha places serve. I ordered a small "pint" of the Level 3 matcha ice cream, a matcha affogato and a matcha blended float. The ice cream was delicious as expected. Incredibly rich matcha flavor and not too overwhelming. My only gripe was the matcha blended float which completely lacked any matcha flavoring for me. It tasted like a Starbucks drink, but perhaps more matcha in the drink can balance the overwhelming milkiness of it.
google avatar

Minly L.

Yelp
Not all the desserts on the menu were available, but this could be because of the time I arrived. Nothing super mind blowing here. Matcha flavor is lacking a bit in the parfait, cakes were just decent. I did love the decor inside. A lot of cute animal painting.
google avatar

Binh T.

Yelp
Stopped by during my vacation visiting Houston. Such a lovely place with all the cute artworks. Matcha paradise was interesting with a mint taste to it. Pretty good but I would ask for a little extra sweetener. It's great that the drink was not overly sweet, I would rather appreciate it on a less sweet side. Matcha crepes was good as well. Again not overly sweet which was perfect. Highly recommending this place if you're visiting or from Houston area.
google avatar

Sophia K.

Yelp
Got the hojicha float. The sweet creaminess of the soft serve paired well with the roasted flavor of the hojicha!
google avatar

Melissa H.

Yelp
This place has a weird smell, almost like a faint stench. Or is it just me? Super nice decor inside and a Matcha dedicated menu. I tried the level 2 Matcha ice blend and it's pretty decent. Very strong matcha flavor and good ratio of ice and milk. The ice wasn't completely blended so the drink was ice crunchy! We thought it tasted best after being melted for 15-20min. There's only 1 barista and the wait was around 15min since there were a few customers. Overall it's a great experience, we'll come back to try other options but we won't be dining in.
google avatar

Ivy L.

Yelp
Matcha!! If you're a matcha lover, you've got to try this place! Matcha soft serve, matcha ice cream (where you can pick the matcha level), matcha teas, matcha coffee, matcha Mille cakes.. you name it! I was sad they didn't have any Mille cakes when I came on a weekday! They said they get them in on the weekends and once they're sold out, they're out for the week! But I tasted the matcha soft serve and it definitely tasted like matcha! Good flavors all around! The place is super cute with some cute murals on both walls! Service was quick and friendly, but we were the only ones in the place cause they had just opened on a Wednesday! I would recommend and will be back for some of the cakes and ice cream!

Suhani K.

Yelp
The soft serve mix ice cream was AMAZING it hit every note and was just such a good experience.
google avatar

Cassandra M.

Yelp
I enjoyed this place. The cute murals, plentiful dessert options, and late-ish hours make it convenient for me. Now for the MATCHA- I love how they offer the roasted matcha flavor. I tried it here and the roast is incredibly earthy, nutty, and has hints of that burnt grass that matcha is usually described to having. I got the float with roasted matcha tea on the bottom and regular matcha soft serve on the top. I appreciated them letting me sample and giving good recommendations for pairing. The matcha float was rich with earthy flavors, not super sweet, and the soft serve blended with the roasted tea was an earthy delicacy. The only thing that I wasn't a giant fan of was there was a family that tried to come in around 10:40 and although their hours state 11 PM as closing time, they still stated to the family they are already closed. I don't think that's excellent customer service and i don't like when businesses don't follow through with their posted hours..imagining what if the family had driven out to make the closing time and we're shoo'ed away? Other than that, really enjoyed it here.

Yelp
It was not easy to pick up one cafe in this competitive Asian area. I liked the name: Ninja Matcha". This was a very catchy name. Actually, it caught me. This tea house was saying " the matcha is healthy". Ninja matcha was sufficiently differentiated from other tea houses. I entered inside. A lady had ice cream, iced tea, and other matcha drinks. I ordered regular iced matcha for around $5. The tea was good. The inside was quiet. It was literally a zen moment. You know, in Japan, zen monks loved matcha. I was not sure if the matcha was really healthy because she put a lot of ingredients. I saw azuki beans and honey. It made me consume 300 calories at least. The healthy way to drink matcha is to put the powder with hot water in the tea cup!
google avatar

Kalvin K.

Yelp
My son wanted some ice cream so naturally we headed for some soft serve at Ninja. He's not a big fan of matcha but thankfully they also had vanilla. The place is quite large and has a good amount of seating. It smelled funny - like stagnant air, when we entered, it kinda turned me off from buying anything for a bit. The ice cream was standard soft serve and was priced reasonably.

Yelp
After having this place on my bookmarks for so long I was finally in the area and decided to give it a go! I originally came for the matcha crepe cake. I am constantly looking for these types of cakes because they're so airy and light but they were unfortunately out of the matcha and only had the durian and the Thai tea flavor. 2/5 stars: The Thai tea crepe cake. The taste was good but the layers got lost together. My boyfriend even asked if there was supposed to be crepe layers in it because it all just tasted like foam. I liked the flavor and still want to try the matcha but the consistency unfortunately is wrong. Perhaps it had been sitting chilled for too long 0/5 stars: Iced Hojicha Chai Tea. I was really disappointed with this drink. Taking my first sip I immediately knew I wanted to throw it away. It tasted like burnt spices, cigarettes, and ash. I love the mellow, nutty flavor of Hojicha and when done correctly, it tastes like a rounded, lightly sweet tea. Hojicha is traditionally made by roasting green tea leaves over charcoal and when done incorrectly yields a drink that tastes of ashy smoke and campfire. The girl taking our order was very curt and I wanted very badly ask for a different drink but she had already sat down and put her headphones in to go back to studying. Decor was cute, place seemed pretty clean.

Yelp
I've always been a matcha fan. I consumed scary amounts of Matcha Kit Kats the last time I was in Asia. So, when I was in Dun Huang Plaza recently, a post-dinner treat was in store, and I decided to check out Ninja Matcha. My matcha latte was really great, no shortage of the matcha flavor I love. But their menu goes so much further! Really want to come back at a future time when I can get a taste of the matcha fromage and the matcha soft serve that I loved as a kid. Would definitely recommend if you are in Chinatown and love matcha!
google avatar

Darian C.

Yelp
This place is so cute and their food is a bit overpriced but still pretty good. I really like their soft serve it was not too sweet and you can taste the Matcha but it's not too overpowering.
google avatar

Melinda N.

Yelp
I wish there was a matcha shop in Austin. They made the perfect matcha beverage with almond milk and I got a slice of matcha crepe cake to go for around $9 (just the cake slice) I wish they had the earl grey cake because I would have loved to try that. It's a clean shop, in a busy plaza with plenty of parking and nice guys. I'd say the cake is almost like Lady M's famous matcha crepe cakes.
google avatar

Akhilesh B.

Yelp
The options here are a little pricy but it sure has some unique things to offer. I really loved their matcha ice cream. I'm curious to get one of their cake lives that costs over 20 bucks to actually see if it's worth it. One of these days!
google avatar

Cassie X.

Yelp
This has been one of my fav Chinatown places and I've been here a bunch of times since they re-opened. There's seating inside and all the tables are seated pretty far away. All their workers wear masks. This last time I was here I got the matcha shaved ice with mochi and red beans. It was delicious and big in size good to share with 2 others.
google avatar

Moni T.

Yelp
Scrumptious! The matcha soft serve is thick and creamy. You will definitely appreciate the taste of quality matcha. I tasted more of the matcha tea flavor than the added sweetness, it makes me feel like I'm drinking a cup of healthy matcha, so good for my body.
