"Expanding next door, Taberna Del Alabardero (1776 Eye Street NW) — founded in 1974 in Madrid and operating in D.C. since 1989 — is opening a 1,000-square-foot market called La Tia Pepa in September. I learned the market will offer Spanish hams and cheeses, wines, and grab-and-go sandwiches from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; the restaurant is investing about $50,000 in renovations including paint and refreshed flooring, and plans to open a newly covered, climate-controlled patio in two weeks. General manager Ramon Pereiras says, "We are fighters. We don't want to go anywhere. We want to be here 30 more years." - Tierney Plumb
