"Newly opened Caribbean restaurant Kaya has wasted no time in adding the most crucial meal of all: brunch. It all starts this long weekend, with chef Nigel Jones’ takes on classic brunch dishes. Menu staples like salt fish fritters, fried plantains, and jerk chicken wings will be available, in addition to hearty Jamaican options. Black pepper tofu scramble with ginger-soy tofu and jasmine rice, or the “Jamaican breakfast” of salt fish, ackee, and fried dumplings lead the savory options, while cinnamon french toast with coconut-battered challah round out the sweet section. Kaya, which is a partnership between Jones and chef Daniel Patterson’s Alta Group, will also offer brunch drinks from bar director Aaron Paul. Pitchers of mimosas (choice of blood orange, mango, or passion fruit), and brunch-friendly cocktails like a ginger shandy with red strip and rum will be available." - Ellen Fort
