"In Pioneer Square, an excellent Southern Italian restaurant will mark its last night after a five-year run: Radici. Owner Rudy LaValle posted the news on the restaurant’s Facebook page but said he would keep the Radici website and social media accounts running “just in case I go crazy and start another project.” I recall LaValle originally founded the restaurant as Tinello in June 2013; the first year was rocky—he cut ties with a former partner and received a cease-and-desist from a New York restaurant called Il Tinello—then ran a Kickstarter, raising about $4,000 over the $15,000 goal and renaming the restaurant Radici, the Italian word for “roots.” Over the years Radici earned the respect of diners and critics, landing on Eater Seattle’s lists of best pasta restaurants and top Pioneer Square restaurants, with favorites like the classic bolognese and Rudy’s red sauce spaghetti; LaValle promises to continue selling Rudy’s sauce after the closure and asks fans to sign up for his newsletter to learn how they can get their fix." - Megan Hill
