"A New York–based fast-casual Israeli counter known for its well-engineered falafel, Taïm opened its second D.C. location in Dupont Circle at 1514 Connecticut Avenue NW. I note its fried eggplant pitas and fries served with harissa ketchup or saffron aioli, and founders Einat Admony and Stéfan Nafziger have introduced two falafel flavors—the green packed with parsley, cilantro, and mint, and a red mixed with Tunisian harissa paste; the Washington Post's Tom Sietsema called it "falafel nirvana." Admony also touts her sabich, a pita stuffed with crispy eggplant, hard-boiled eggs, Israeli salad, pickled cabbage, tahini, parsley, and a mango-based amba, and the shop held a pre-opening on Wednesday, Sept. 9 (11 a.m.–8 p.m.) offering $5 pitas, bowls, and salads with all first-day proceeds to FRESHFARM; regular hours begin Thursday (11 a.m.–9 p.m.) with online ordering available for pickup or delivery." - Gabe Hiatt
