"On the Westside at 280 Ashley Ave, I discovered an all-day breakfast restaurant opened by Charleston food-and-beverage vets Jeremiah Schenzel and Nicholas Dowling that’s become so popular the dining room and outdoor seating are routinely packed with brunch-seekers. Families and hungover hipsters commingle over a menu full of hash, egg sandwiches, pancakes, and mimosas on tap. The interior feels comfortable and laid back; Schenzel and Dowling did much of the work themselves — from the tables to the concrete bar and shelving — with interior design help from Taylor DeBartola Designs. Drawings and pillows come from Dallas and Alisha Thomas of Pear Face Co. in Wilmington, and photos on the wall are by Jared Bramblett. Daps is open Sunday through Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m." - Erin Perkins
