"I report that Downtown LA’s Asterid has named Mazen Mustafa as executive chef, and he plans to weave touches of his mother’s Middle Eastern background into Ray Garcia’s menu while retaining signature opening dishes like maitake mushrooms and chicken liver mousse; Mustafa will also add items such as a dry-aged New York strip steak and kanpachi with mara grape and spicy tomato broth, with Garcia remaining on as a chef partner." - Matthew Kang
