"I'm reporting that the chain's first Louisiana outlet will open its doors in the CBD for reservation-only seating on Monday, January 7. According to Gyu-Kaku’s New Orleans Facebook page, the location will be taking a “limited number” of reservations Monday through Sunday nights between 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The 3,000-square-foot space at 400 Lafayette Street, near a bustling stretch of Tchoupitoulas Street, is a DIY Japanese yakiniku where customers cook a selection of protein over a grill at the center of every table (the table sucks the smoke down into it rather than letting it rise). The famed s'mores dessert is DIY as well, and the menu also includes non-grill options like bibimbap, ramen, dumplings, and Japanese fried chicken. Gyu-Kaku is part of a global chain with over 700 restaurants worldwide and recent and planned openings in other U.S. markets." - Clair Lorell
