"In Eastern Market, Detroit City Distillery had closed its street seating for winter and just unveiled a newly furnished, socially distanced bar inside its nearby 7,000-square-foot events space, the Whiskey Factory, and partner Mike Forsyth said the first week of service was "unbelievable" and was entirely booked for the rest of the year before the pause. The distillery is fortunate to have multiple revenue streams—bottled spirits sales, outdoor pop-ups, and to-go cocktail sales—that should help keep bartenders and employees on payroll, but Forsyth expressed deep concern for peers without wholesale products, criticized inconsistent public behavior and political leadership, and urged the community to spend locally to help businesses survive." - Brenna Houck
