"On Notre-Dame West in St-Henri, I found a new Venice at 4001 Notre-Dame W occupying the former Ludger corner on du Couvent; it will serve lunch, dinner and brunch and follows the menus of the original Old Montreal and Beaver Hall locations with health-conscious, Californian-leaning fare like avocado toast, salads, fusion tacos and Hawaiian poke bowls. Inside it has a beachy vibe — bright tones, surfboards and skateboards — evocative of Venice Beach in Los Angeles, and a new mural on du Couvent has been painted over Ludger’s artwork, a move that caused a minor stir because the previous mural featured architect Ludger Lemieux (known for designs like the Atwater Market) and had doubled as branding for the former restaurant. It’s open 5–11 p.m. this week and will be 11 a.m.–11 p.m. daily starting next week." - Tim Forster
