"When we got the first round of PPP we reopened in a limited capacity — patio only with no indoor access — and later installed a covered patio in the alley on the other side of the Bobwhite Theatre, which made service easier but didn’t pay for itself until we got a grant; honestly, we’ve been living off grants. The pandemic has made it obvious that midsize, family‑owned restaurants are the most at risk, and it’s pushed us toward collaboration and flexibility; staff and customers have been remarkably supportive, and one business owner’s push for to‑go alcohol showed how quickly change can happen. I hate serving food in subpar ways for takeout — drivers can jostle orders and the food can arrive cold or messy — but I’m hopeful to have as much fun as possible over the busy warm months." - Molly J.
