A Wine-Obsessed, All Day Dining Destination Just Landed in Downtown - Eater Houston

"Coterie, a new wine-focused Downtown bistro, just made its debut in Market Square Tower. The new 1,500 square-foot eatery is the project of two wine-obsessed entrepreneurs, Sean Marshall, founder of Southside Espresso, and Charles “Chaz” Lusk, a healthcare executive and “serial entrepreneur” from the world of start-ups. According to a press release, the space was designed by the Costa Group, and was intended to create a vibe that can seamlessly transition from casual brunch service to nighttime dining. 'The visual features were designed to serve as both a morning respite and evening retreat,' Lusk said in a statement. 'We can purposefully change the energy of Coterie with our lighting and music.' The bar serves as a double-duty destination for artisan espresso drinks — presumably from Marshall’s arsenal of carefully-selected beans — and boozy options including cocktails, beer, and wine. It also boasts a view of the rotating wines painstakingly chosen by Marshall and Lusk, a preview of what’s on offer in the restaurant’s walk-in wine room. In fact, the duo’s obsession with the fermented grape extends to the point that they are each pursuing further wine education. Marshall is currently seeking eventual certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers, and Lusk is 'deep into the curriculum' established by the Wine and Spirits Education Trust. As far as the food is concerned, Oxheart alum Chris Wesley will lead the kitchen that will serve an all-day menu that ranges from eggs Benedict in the morning to pastas and pizzas on the dinner menu. Coterie’s hours are Monday through Wednesday 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Thursday and Friday 6:30 a.m. to 1 a.m; Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.; and Sunday 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m." - Alaena Hostetter
