Maryland Favorite Moorenko’s Ice Cream Opens Its First D.C. Shop in Eastern Market | Eater DC

"Opening today at noon in Eastern Market (720 C Street SE), the Silver Spring–based scoops shop Moorenko’s brings the city ultra-premium ice cream (17 percent milk fat) served in cups, cones, milkshakes, malteds, floats, and pre-packed pints; a dipping case starts with 20 flavors including cherry stracciatella, salted caramel with pralines, and cookie overload. Founder Susan Soorenko says Moorenko’s sources dairy from grass-fed cows raised on family-owned farms in Pennsylvania, plans to soon add a coffee program from Santa Lucia Coffee (a woman-owned roaster in Gaithersburg), and currently offers juices and craft sodas. The new 722-square-foot, cashless location has no inside seating and is takeaway only; it’s open seven days a week (noon–8 p.m. Sunday–Thursday, until 9 p.m. Friday–Saturday).
