"A team of piano bar veterans has worked for the last several months to get D’s Keys in tip-top shape for opening. Robert Morse and Matt Nichols have operated Providence’s Point Street Dueling Pianos for years, and Nichols himself will be one of the venue’s pianists. The bar originally planned to open July 7, though the timeline shifted with some construction changes. Inside, tables and standing room space can accommodate 300 people, and each night will run like a request show, combined with sets and sing-alongs. At the top of each hour, bass, guitar, and drums will join in with the pianos for a few songs, Nichols explained in June. He expects a variety of requests ranging from the 1950s to present hits. “Dueling pianos is all about group participation, shamelessness, and humiliation,” the website reads. “You sing-and-laugh-along while our performers play your song requests, embarrass your friends, and make fools of themselves on stage.” True to its name, D’s Keys will focus on the music, while serving a selection of cocktails, wine, beer, and hot dogs for food. D’s Keys will be strictly 21 and up, operating from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. On Friday and Saturday, it will run a $10 cover. The bar can accommodate reservations and groups but has a few requests on its website, like: “Balloons should not block the view of the people behind you,” and no tablecloths or noisemakers. As for dress code, there is none: “Just wear clothes.(Well, no Yankees gear. Duh.)”" - Dana Hatic
