"The next big name to drop into the mix comes from the Badmaash crew, who opened their retro-inspired La Brea spot Burgers 99 at precisely 8 o’clock this morning. While the name Burgers 99 is brand new, the idea has been brewing for years with brothers Nakul and Arjun Mahendro and their father Pawan. The restaurant itself is a simple bit of neon-tinged fun. Diners order at the counter up front and grab one of a handful of seats inside to wait for their order. A large corner patio in the back of the Matt Winter-designed building offers more tables, and will be used in the future for events and casual collaborations, which Brick Stowell will oversee. The menu from chef Geovanny Delgado stays equally pared down, with room for a couple of burgers, including the Burgers 99 take on classics like the In-N-Out double-double and the McDonald’s quarter-pounder with cheese, plus hot dogs, fries, milkshakes, a housemade cherry Coke, and a vegan burger to boot. Burgers 99 is open right this very second at 131 South La Brea, keeping hours every day moving forward from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., with an option to add on some late night hours in the near future." - Farley Elliott
