"Longtime Elf and Dune chef Scott Zwiezen was long inspired by the all-day cafes he experienced in Eastern Europe in the 1990s, especially the ones in Vienna, Prague, and Berlin, where easy-going but well-prepared classics come with wine and cocktails. The former Kaldi’s Coffee in Atwater VIllage was completely gutted out to reveal a checkered floor, marble bar, and domed ceiling that evokes Zwiezen’s memories of the ’90s cafes. Here, breakfast through dinner is served in tartines, egg plates, pierogi’s (using his grandmother’s recipe), and steak frites.
