"Opening Saturday, October 9 in Decatur’s Oakhurst neighborhood, I found that Ford’s BBQ’s second location, owned by James Maggard and Justin Bradford, replaces their former Matador Mexican Cantina and seats 60 people between the dining room and a dog-friendly patio. The menu mirrors the Tucker location and is described as “Texas-style low and slow BBQ with Southern sides that have a Mexican influence.” Vegetarian options include a smoked beet Cubano, lentil tacos, and a vegetarian sloppy joe, and Oakhurst adds two new dishes: chicken tortilla soup and the Gobbler, a pressed hoagie stuffed with turkey, cranberry chile chutney, chihuahua cheese, and onions. The grand opening runs 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and coincides with a block party during the annual Oakhurst Porchfest, and a representative says they aim to be a neighborhood gathering place with deep roots in Oakhurst because two of the owners live there with their families." - Beth McKibben
