Yelp
I'd like to give them a 3.5, but I'll give them a 4 because the overall experience was pretty good. Stopped in for lunch on a Tues and with only one server working front of house, she was holding it down with great service.
I went with the Texas Cheesesteak (brisket, peppers, jalapeños, onions, and queso) knowing they would most likely be using day-old brisket, which I totally get. The flavor was good, although the meat was a little dry and firm. Not hard, but not supple. I smoke brisket at home so I kinda knew what to expect. Not sure how they're reheating. If they're not steaming, I'd like to see how that would change the texture. Looking at the pics on yelp, you can see sometimes you get a lot of queso on the sandwich, sometimes not so much. Today, unfortunately, I was served the latter. I could have used more queso, but the flavor was still good overall. Hoagie was decent, but was pretty basic. The fried okra was pretty tasty (may have been frozen, but was cooked well) and the 1st thing I finished on the plate.
Sauces. Yes, I know BBQ is about the meat, but sauce is important too. Home Sauce - pretty tasty, if average sauce. Vinegar Sauce - very vinegary lol. White Sauce - pretty tasty if you're familiar with white sauces. I was a fan. The surprise for me here was the Hot Mustard, which wasn't terribly hot, but had a really nice flavor.
Overall, the food is good (and the fresh meat may be even better) and the service left nothing to be desired. Cool vibe inside the place too. I wouldn't hesitate to return and try some other items.
