"A campus seed library started in 2014 as a joint project between the university library and the Urban Agriculture Department, prioritizing organic, heirloom, and culturally relevant varieties. The collection typically holds 40–50 seed varieties in labeled coin envelopes (20–30 available by season) and has shifted from primarily vegetables to include flowers and herbs suited to dorm windowsills; the program integrates into coursework and field trips to teach students about heirloom seeds, cultural traditions, and the global decline in seed genetic diversity, and during the pandemic it expanded online classes and mailed seeds to reduce barriers to growing food." - Bridget Shirvell
