Google
A gluten free haven! Most items are GF as-is (please know that the restaurantis not 100% gluten free). I've been here multiple times now; the food is always flavorful and piping hot. My favorite has been the orange chicken, and the sesame and General Tso's is delicious too. My non-GF guests did not know it was GF either! My new favorite spot in the city

Google
I enjoyed the food that I got delivered from here. This place makes an alright Sesame and General Tso’s Chicken, though the Sesame Chicken is very ginger-y

Google
Where’s the beef?!? The food was okay, but they gave me a whole onion and a little amount of beef. Not worth it to me if you are going to cut corners! Overall the service was really great and they checked in throughout my meal, but not an ideal restaurant to dine in because they only have 4 tables. The food was freshly made, but they cut back on the meat and gave me a lot of onion. I didn’t eat half of it because it was onions. Maybe the vegetarian opts are better. I saw another review that they also didn’t give them good meat portions. Avoid and go to another place that gives you a decent portion of protein!

I’m not too sure about this place. Maybe I ordered the wrong dishes. I tried the chowmein and didn’t really enjoy it. I wanted some more bold flavors. The pot stickers were good though!

Google
A great attempt at American Chinese food, especially in west portal but needs improvement in my opinion. Food is a bit salty, and they clearly skimped on the beef for the black pepper beef. For example, it was 95% bell peppers, 5% beef. Sauces had potential, so they just need to work on their ratios. Mapo Tofu was decent

We did a small catering order for Teacher Appreciation Week - two appetizer platters and one vegetarian chow mein. Tiffany was amazing to work with, very responsive and accommodating. The Lazy Susan food was the highlight of our spread that day and went the fastest! They gave us fortune cookies and plenty of sauces to go with, and even gave us little food labels. We're super grateful to the whole team for their help with our order and hope to work with them again for future events (not to mention future family dinners!)

Google
Really good Orange Chicken. The crispy spring rolls were way overpriced and not good at $9 ~ overall a great spot

Google
We ordered from here for the first time and Lazy Susan did not disappoint! Portions are generous and they do not skimp on the various proteins in each dish. We ordered the Kung Pao chicken (awesome), orange chicken (great), sauteed string beans (great flavor), garlic broccoli (delicious), veggie chow mein (excellent), prawn honey walnut special (good), and the veggie potstickers (nice bite, 5 in an order). The fortune cookies are a nice touch at the end (come in 3 different flavors) but the lack of a traditional fortune was a bummer (see photo below). Overall, great taste, value and menu variety! Can't wait to try more items next time!

Yelp
Honestly, it might not be the most "authentic" place. But as someone that grew up on a lot of "Americanized Chinese" food, this place scratches a very specific itch that most of less Americanized places don't really scratch. I've been in a couple of times both eating in and take out and while a little bit more pricy then the steam table food of my childhood always is delicious and very fresh (they make everything fresh and don't have a steam table) and portion sizes are definitely on the generous side. The service has been very pleasant and fast when eating in and it's very clean and has a great vibe inside. I guess the only downside is that the parking situation kinda sucks but it's also at west portal so transit has a ton of connections.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed, I found this place 7 months ago and was excited to have another gluten free option for myself. Well Portions have shrunk and prices went up. Will not be coming back. I gave two stars because the restaurant was clean and the food was fresh.

Yelp
I ordered delivery via Toast(app). Usually they are very good today their * General Tao Chicken was very salty * Hot and Sour Soup was odd, just took a sip and dumped * XO Fried Rice (beef and shrimp) was tasty and good Lazy Susan has a good loyalty program where I earned about $10, which covers the delivery that took about 50 minutes (1h 15m from order). ( DoorDash delivers for Toast and has sometimes given my order to the homeless people in the bus stop (happened twice). DoorDash never reimburses me I just order the same thing again, because it's not Lazy Susan's fault and I am still hungry and someone got to eat, Not that I'm a Billion Dollar company feeding the poor with the poor's money. Door Dash I try not to order from them, but they seem to be winning more and more restaurants with that type of service under other names. (no pictures) I'd order again from Lazy Susan, having to call them many times they seem to be nice people and good food. I'll post again when they get back to normal. Eat San Francisco d.

Yelp
My meal was so bad, that I couldn't just review via DoorDash- I brought my words here. I will try to be nice when I give my honest opinion, but please think twice before ordering from here. This is NOT a traditionally flavored Chinese food restaurant. I am a San Francisco native, I knowwwwwwwww good Chinese food. Why did the regular crab rangoons have a lemon flavor? The orange chicken was no chicken, all air + breading. The wonton soup.....this is a household staple for me, so just know that I was super upset at the lack of flavor served in that container. The chow mein was decent. Something in the Mongolian beef tasted frozen/rush thawed. I just- I give my review as feedback only, no negativity. But you all have got to get back in that kitchen and change a few things because tonight's dinner was not it ‍

Yelp
I was excited when Lazy Susan finally offered a tofu version of the Chinese Chicken Salad but the excitement wasn't supported by the results. The salad has everything it should have but there's no flavor alchemy and amounts to a bunch of crunchy dissatisfying bites. Sadly I have to take another star away because when we ordered it to go, it was packaged in six (literally six) different containers. Maybe indicative of how poorly the ingredients work together.

Yelp
Our go-to option when feeding vegetarian and gluten-free guests (or even just for ourselves). Very fresh and tasty ingredients. Family style trays are very helpful when serving a group. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Yelp
Okay Chinese American food, but not worth a trip unless you're in the area. We got a delivery a while ago. Wasn't very impressed by anything except for the cutesy kitschy branded chopsticks which my husband accidentally threw away shortly after I purchased it. Oops! The crab Rangoon has no crab or crab taste inside. Just chives cream cheese.

Yelp
Lazy Susan is a unique take on quintessential Chinese food. The chow mein had a nice spice profile I've never had before and the chicken was wonderfully crispy. The place is also a nice mix of casual and nice. You just order at the counter and easily get take out or you can sit in their nice seating area with lazy susans of course. This is probably the most expensive Chinese place I've ever been to though and the food though good will certainly not blow you away.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! I usually don't write reviews but that's just how bad this place was. Got the lazy plate with veggie chow mein & kung pao chicken, the veggie dumplings and the xo surf n turf fried rice. There were HARD inedible little bits in both the dumplings and the fried rice (see pic). The kung pao chicken was disgusting with literally only 10 little pieces of dry ass chicken. The beef in the fried rice was also shriveled and dry as hell. Don't order from here unless you want nasty food with the potential to crack your teeth!

Yelp
Nice, friendly people and good food. I went there for lunch today (General Tso's Chicken). Generous portions, too! I will definitely return when I am in the neighborhood.

Yelp
I've been waiting to try Lazy Susan and it didn't disappoint. We got the pot stickers, general Tsos chicken, and the shrimp lo mein. Overall food was exactly what I was expecting - a flavorful less greasy take on American Chinese. The potstickers were excellent. The general tsos was perfectly crunchy (I was nervous bc of GF)! Slight letdown from the "side of broccoli" that was just 3 pieces. The chow mein was perfect with large shrimp. Not pictured - we got the hot and sour soup and wonton soup. I really loved the hot and sour soup, it didn't have the goopy cornstarch texture like most places. I also enjoyed the wonton, but my fiancée wasn't used to the flavor (they use what I'm guessing is 5 spice). Overall would definitely have again - delivery was fast and we'll packaged. Food was good!

Yelp
Great food, delivery was quick I enjoyed, like the spring rolls and chow mein , I will re order for sure

Yelp
I finally had the chance to try Lazy Susan. I got lunch on Tuesday and I liked it so much than I decided to get dinner on Thursday for my family. We tried orange chicken, chow mein, fried rice and spring rolls! Cannot wait to try other items from the menu!

Yelp
I consider myself a mapo tofu connoisseur and this is the best mapo tofu I've ever had. I've eaten this dish at probably 50 restaurants or more as it's often the tastiest vegetarian option. Almost always in the US you find it without pig meat making it vegetarian, and this is the first time I've ever seen it with a vegan meat substitute. It is phenomenal! I think the price point is a bit high for the casual interior but overall I am impressed and will return.

Yelp
They need to stress that this is "Americanized Chinese," Or "An American interpretation on Chinese Food." Some people come here for nostalgia (if this is what is nostalgic for you). I get that. But nostalgia combined with bad food should NOT be getting you a mention in the New York Times. For me, there was some nostalgia. It brought back flashbacks to the late 90s; specifically the trauma of having to eat at a university cafeteria managed by Aramark that claimed to make "fresh and authentic Chinese food." If you're from the old country, this is not the place for you. You should only go here if you're trying to collect data for a sociology paper on the butchering of Asian cuisine for the American palette. With regards to the food. One thing we know how to do an Asia, is CLEAN our rice from foreign elements like pebbles and grit. Yes, we wash our rice before cooking it. I didn't appreciate finding what looked to be a small stone in the very bland fried rice (see image). You can imagine how relieved I am I didn't chip any teeth on that. No good Asian mother would allow their child to get away with leaving rocks and pebbles in the rice. The punishment for such crime would be 100 lashes of the feather duster. Wasn't too fond of that frozen vegetable taste in the corn carrot and peas in the fried rice (or that little bit of ice that was still on the corn). As for the potstickers. Bland. No seasoning in the filling. Only thing I can taste what is the oil that they were pan fried in. Only reason why I went in here; I was starving. This is a place I would categorize as "Desperate Times, Despair Meal."

Yelp
4.5 stars A "Lazy Susan" refers to the spinning tray placed in the center of tables in many Chinese restaurants to help diners reach the dishes they want. It's also an apt name for this Chinese-American restaurant that does a modern take on classically inauthentic dishes. For lunch, the Lazy Plate (what a creative name!) came with a choice of entree, side, and a crispy vegetable spring roll. My pick was the Impossible Mapo Tofu, a dish of silken Hodo tofu cubes in a mapo sauce made with ground Impossible meat and Sichuan peppercorns. The sauce had a balanced spicy and savory flavor with a hit of umami from the fermented bean paste (doubanjiang), and the tofu mixture went nicely with the peppery veggie fried rice laced with scrambled egg, peas, carrots, and corn. I also tried the General Tso's chicken, made of deep-fried chicken chunks tossed in a sweet, savory, tangy sauce and topped with sesame seeds and broccoli. One of the homemade condiments I ordered on the side was the Umami Crunch, made of garlic, fermented black bean, and mushroom powder, which added a nice texture and flavor to the dishes. As to be expected for Chinese-American food, everything was packaged in take-out containers (along with packets of Sriracha and Chinese hot mustard), and the classic fortune cookie topped off the meal! Mine read: "A feather in the hand is better than a bird in the air" and "Do onto others as you wish others do onto you." Both helpful aphorisms though hardly actual fortunes..

Yelp
I really wanted to support a local Chinese restaurant but so I was excited to give Lazy Susan a try. I realize that their focus was Chinese American food, something I've had plenty of in SF and elsewhere. I ordered the chicken fried rice, Buddha's Delight and the Mapo tofu. The order was ready approximately 15 to 20 minutes after I ordered, which was fine considering there was a big order placed just ahead of mine. I had reviewed people's comments here and partially based my order on them. Unfortunately I did not have the same experience as many others. I found the food incredibly salty and only tasted of soy sauce and garlic. Maybe I picked the wrong dishes or perhaps I'm more sensitive to salt levels since I use it sparingly when I cook. The fried rice was wet and mushy, almost as if they used just cooked medium grain rice to make this dish. There were bits of chicken throughout the dish. The rice appeared to be doused in soy sauce. The Mapo tofu came either mildly spicy or full spice, which is a nice option for those that aren't used to the dish as traditionally prepared. While the texture was good and the dish's ingredients were fresh, I also found this dish to be overly salty. As for the Buddha's Delight, I enjoyed this dish most. The veggies were well cooked and slightly crispy. There was a good mix of mushrooms, different types of tofu, carrots and green vegetables. One plus was that I didn't find the food to be greasy and all dishes came piping hot and freshly cooked. I really appreciated that they wrapped the container of Mapo tofu in an extra bag in case there were leaks or spillage. I thought the prices were on the high side compared to other places offering this type of food. The menu is limited but has some of the most popular Chinese American dishes. Service was friendly and the restaurant appeared to be very clean. There were four small tables for those that wish to dine onsite. Otherwise four chairs were available for those waiting to pick up their orders. The location of the restaurant is really close to the West Portal Muni station. Parking is available at metered and non-metered spots nearby.

Yelp
This review is a unique and personal one for me. I'm starting it before I have eaten the food because as a native San Franciscan I was stunned when I first saw the new shop at the Jazz Center. You see, Lazy Susan was the name of my mother's store that she had for 30 years and even had a cafe! In fact the store became so popular that some copycat Japanese entrepreneurs copied it and used the name to create stores in Japan and New York. So for those longtime San Franciscans, this restaurant is unrelated! Now I read that SF's Luke Tsai that they want this to be the Domino's of Chinese Food. Very interesting concept for a former Mr. Jiu protege. Basically this upscale chef sponsored by the same people who create Atelier Crenn are creating a high volume standard take out version of Panda Express? Well I will give them 5 stars for concept. I also think they are brave for making the attempt in San Francisco, a city with 40% Asians and tons of places to eat. That said, the food was good, and a little expensive compared to what I could get from more authentic Chinese take out in SF. To me this was what I call Americanized Chinese Food for the masses. I will stick with my local places I've always gone to. (note: this was written over a year ago, but got stuck in my drafts. They have since moved to a different location)

Yelp
3.5 STARS COVID-19 DELIVERY I grew up in a Chinese household but ate more Americanized Chinese food than the real deal because it was dirt cheap. My mom didn't like to cook so she regularly went to the ice cream shop that doubled as a Chinese restaurant selling $1 boxes of fried rice and chow mein. And, bam that was dinner and lunch the next day....for yeeeaaaaars. Maybe that's why I don't really care for American-Chinese food these days because my stomach is still churning from the grease decades later. I read about Lazy Susan from the Crenn Dining Group serving American-Chinese Food. Being in Hayes Valley and having Impossible™ meat, it screams gentrified Chinese food but can't knock it until you try it. I've had the chef's food before at Fort Point (hello, sichuan hummus!) so it really piqued my interest to try Lazy Susan. During COVID, Lazy Susan is open for takeout and delivery (via Toast/DoorDash). Order directly through their website. M E N U All the American Chinese food staples: Crab Rangoon, Egg Rolls, Hot & Sour Soup, Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Fried Rice, Chow Mein, etc. They also sell jars of their Sauces (umami crunch and hot sauce), Beer, and Vita juices. Nothing is over $15 which is reasonable for the area but some of the portions are smaller than your local mom and pop shop. Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan friendly. D E L I V E R Y Pre-ordered the morning before for opening day delivery. Online ordering was closed before their 5 pm opening so def plan ahead and pre-order your food. My food arrived within the my chosen timeframe in a stapled bag. First 1,000 orders receive a cute piggy lai see (red envelope) with a $1 coin. Great touch! F O O D * Hot & Sour Soup w/ egg, tofu, scallions, mushroom, vegetable broth ($8.95) Thin broth, sour but not spicy with soft tofu, carrots, mushrooms, and snow peas. Wish I had some henny to pour in. Portion is more for 1-1.5 people. * General Tso's Chicken: Crispy chicken wok-tossed in a sweet, savory, and tangy sauce ($13.95) Not something I would usually order for delivery because I'm afraid of getting a hot mess of soggy batter in a gloopy sauce. However, I read that Lazy Susan's cooking technique allows the gluten-free batter to retain its crispy texture 30-40 minutes later. Despite delivery and the container being sealed shut, the General Tso's chicken was decently crispy (larger pieces were soft) and moist, not overly battered with a sweet and tangy sauce. The accompanying broccoli was crunchy but a bit sour. To me, it tasted like General Tso's from Panda Express which is not a bad thing because this was the best item of the three. * Impossible™ Mapo Tofu w/ chinese douban sauce, chili ($12.95) I'm a sucker for mala numbing spice so I had to order this vegan dish. Soft, velvety tofu chunks with bits of impossible meat in a gravy-like sauce. I was bummed that it was mild and didn't have that tongue numbing spice. Perhaps, they can consider allowing customers to adjust the spice levels? * Brown Rice ($2.50) Properly cooked, nice firm bite. * Lazy Susan Sriracha w/ special blend of Chinese douban sauce, miso, and spices ($6.95/jar) Didn't try it yet. Overall, the food wasn't really my jam (or I ordered the wrong things) but I appreciate Lazy Susan's concept of offering slightly elevated yet familiar American-Chinese food. I'm sure they'll do well in Hayes Valley. 3.5 stars rounded up.

Yelp
Lazy Susan opened in the same location as B-side at the SF Jazz Center. I saw them open on one of my walks in the area and wanted to try them out. If you can imagine the Hayes Valley version of the quintessential American Chinese restaurant, this would be it - it's a "not so greasy" version of the American Chinese food that we have all had. It's a take-out only operation that's open for Wednesday through Sunday dinner. I had the chicken wings and the pepper steak and both were really good. The entrees are reasonably priced though you have to buy the rice separately. With tax and tip, this was $29. Definitely worth a try when you are in the area or craving some American Chinese food.

Yelp
Here's the thing.... After ordering $135 worth of food they failed to deliver $20 or $30 worth of the order. Tiffany helped me with this issue and I would definitely recommend this establishment. Yummy food and prompt delivery too. Really liked the veggie pot stickers!

Yelp
This was my first time I ordered from here. I ordered General Taos chicken and chicken fried rice. The General Taos chicken portion was so small. The taste was ok , but if you charge the high price, give a decent portion. The chicken fried rice had lumps of white rice, I know it's made with leftover rice, but make it presentable. The taste wasn't very good. You can get better food at Panda Express in Stonestown. The two items cost over $35.00 To the owners, be a customer and review your own food.

Yelp
We have ordered takeout from these folks several times now. The food is good and they are quick but with every order, the portions get smaller and smaller. It is now absurd and we will never be ordering from here again. As an example, here is a picture of the Honey Walnut Prawns. Literally half of what is pictured on their menu and it cost us $20. Never again.

Yelp
I feel bad leaving a bad review, but I was disappointed by this place. I had high hopes when I first saw them setting up. It looks cool, the menu seems streamlined and decent, so why low rating? 1. The food was just okay, overall underwhelming. I've definitely had better Chinese takeout: Crab rangoons were not particularly crispy and I couldn't discern any crab flavor or pieces, Beef chow mein was a bit oily but I did like how the veggies were still crunchy and the beef was seasoned, Orange chicken was soggy, Chicken fried rice was the best of the items I ordered. I also got a jar of the chilli oil and the fried garlic and black bean sprinkle - eh. 2. Order took forever, it was ready 30 min after the originally stated time. I was waiting in the mostly empty restaurant while they made my food. I thought, makes sense as their business is takeout (although there are some tables to sit and eat your food if you wanted). But what was even more disappointing was that clearly they were just disorganized. Once I got my order, the fried rice was hot, the chowmein was lukewarm warm, and the orange chicken was completely cold. So clearly it had been sitting for awhile, I suspect the whole 30 min I was waiting, hence soggy orange chicken. Given that takeout is their thing, I would have thought they'd have this figured out. 3. The woman at the counter asked for my name. I told her and she had a very confused look. I get it, my name is not common. I said it a couple of times until I gave up and just showed her how it was spelled on my phone. When my order was ready, she didn't even try to pronounce it. It's not a hard name, it's not even that foreign. Also no acknowledgement that I'd been waiting for half an hour. I'd be very hesitant to try it again.

Yelp
We happened by this place new to West Portal. Ordered take-out, very easy and food was ready per info. Food came in a great re-usable container. The food was very tasty with all the right seasoning and flavors. FYI: Items tend to be on the spicy side. We'll try eat in next time, and hopefully we'll give the fifth star! Would recommend.

Yelp
Tasty Chinese American food. I'll go back. It should be obvious with a name like Lazy Susan and the newspaper articles on the wall that they serve classic favorites from Chinese restaurants in America. I don't have much sympathy for other reviewers who got their undies in a twist because the food was somehow not authentic in their minds. That's 100% not what Lazy Susan aims to achieve, which should be obvious to all. Tried the kung pao chicken, General Tso's chicken, and chow mein. All tasty and less greasy than other places. Similar experience to Mamahuhu on Clement St. I hope SF gets more of these places.

Yelp
It's so hard to find tasty gluten free Chinese food. Usually the restaurants will simply omit the soy sauce, leaving you with flavorless food. Lazy Susan's food was bursting with flavor. Chicken Wings : A++++ Crispy, juicy, and the dry rub it comes in is to die for. MaPo Tofu: Nice silky tofu taste, more on the chili-pepper spice than the tingly Szechuan pepper spice that I associate with MaPo, but I still enjoyed it. Would love more Impossible meat in it. Actually, would love more in general -- the portion size seemed small. But it was delicious, will order again. Hot & Sour Soup : Also delicious. Love the tofu in it, also enjoyed the texture, consistency and flavor. Appreciated that it had some veggies in it, too.

Yelp
Had general tso's chicken, broccoli, chicken chow mein, crab rangoon, and pepper beef, vegetable fried rice Crab rangoon was deep fried wonton wrappers with crab and cream cheese. It was mostly cream cheese. Could not taste the crab. General tso's chicken was good with big pieces of chicken. Pepper beef was tasty. Lots of bell peppers. Wish there was more beef. Chicken chow mein was salty and couldn't find the chicken. There were only brown pieces of something in it. Vegetable fried rice was ok. It just had some peas and a few carrots. The food came out fast and was hot. This place is primarily for take out not dine in. Its ok food if you are in a hurry and hungry. It should not have been part of sf restaurant week. Would not go back.

Yelp
Crisp general tso chicken Great texture and mouth feel in the chow Meir. Satisfying texture of long noodles The chili crisp umami crunch on the string beans are delicious Even the broccoli has that classic Chinese american taste while being very flavorful

Yelp
We ordered takeout from Lazy Susan this evening, having heard that there were a variety of gluten free offerings. While that may be true, most of the dishes we tried were quite disappointing. The "hot and sour soup" bite no resemblance to its traditional version. It was missing key ingredients like bamboo shoots, cloud ear mushrooms, and eggs, none of which would have interfered with the GF designation. The chili wontons were doughy, cold and undercooked. Crab Rangoon? No crab to speak of. The Buddha's Delight had very little tofu, yuba or mushrooms and was swimming in an unrecognizable brown sauce. The only decent items we tried were General Tsao's chicken (on par with Panda Express though GF) and green beans.

Yelp
I'm glad they moved to West Portal on Ulloa!! They have all their same delicious food, just new location. I recently got the Orange Chicken, Surf & Turf Fried Rice, Chow mein with chicken, and Chinese Chicken Salad. All were fantastic. The orange chicken was just how I remembered - nice and crispy, with real orange flavor and slices/peels. This was the first time we tried the surf & turf fried rice, which ended up being beef & shrimp - SO GOOD! Loved it!!! Great combo in case you were wondering. I also loved trying the Chinese Chicken salad, which was quite large for 2 people. The chicken was thigh meat, and wonderfully flavorful. Highly recommended!! My husband and I came with excitement to dine at their new brick and mortar restaurant, which now has indoor dining available (their old location was just take out only). But we were disappointed with their sit down tables. Yes it was modern, but was self-serve. There were only 3 tables in the restaurant, with an open kitchen right there. You just bring your take out bag to the table and eat out of their take out boxes....VERY disappointing!!! Please bring table service to the restaurant, where food actually comes on a real plate and served with real utensils (like Mamahuhu). My husband and I decided to just bring our food and eat at home instead. We will probably continue to do take out only here.

Yelp
It's so exciting seeing a new restaurant start up during this pandemic! Overall Lazy Susan has wonderful Chinese-American food and I really like the design style of their website/ordering/packaging; its simple and easy, and I hope they eventually have indoor dining! The food tasted great, but I wouldn't say it's the best Chinese I've had in SF. The General Tso's chicken was really tasty, but it wasn't spicy at all. It also only came with broccoli, and I wish it came with a side of rice instead of having to pay extra. I also tried the chicken fried rice, which had more seasoning/flavor than most places. I was a big fan. The portions are decent sized, and the prices are reasonable for SF. I'm glad to have this option so close to where I live, and I'll be back if I'm craving Chinese food! The red envelope with a dollar coin inside (for the first 1000 customers) was a fun surprise, hopefully it will bring me good luck this year!

Heard this place was good, saw reviews and I was curious to see what replaced the previous Chinese Restaurant. Walked in and saw the interesting pictures on the wall and posted reviews. It should have been a red flag when we noticed that there were no Asians in the whole restaurant. Noticed a lot of to go orders as we sat there. We ordered a lot of food, we were really hungry, 1) Crab Rangoon 2) wonton soup 3) Dry Fried Aromatic Chicken 4) Broccoli Beef 5) Impossible Mapu Tofu and 6) Shrimp Fried Rice. The only thing my kids liked was the Shrimp Fried Rice. I couldn't stomach eating anything else after a few bites of each dish. I normally take the left overs home, but for the first time didn't. 1) Crab Rangoon- no crab at all only cream cheese, disappointing. Don't call it Crab Rangoon when there is only cream cheese in it. 2) Wonton soup- wonton hardly had any filling, mostly wrapping. Broth was salty and didn't taste good. After having one bite, couldn't finish it. Even my son wouldn't eat it. 3) Dry Fried Aromatic Chicken- was gooey and not cooked well, even the vegetables were inedible 4) Broccoli Beef- should be a no brainer, but nope. The beef was not seasoned right and soggy. How can you make beef taste so blah... 5) Impossible Mapu Tofu- came here since my daughter is vegetarian and loves Mapu Tofu. She said it was too salty and bland. 6) Shrimp Fried Rice- the best one there. The kids loved it, but all I saw and tasted was pepper. Lots of black pepper. I was really disappointed with this place and felt that it was extremely expensive. Spent over $90.00 on something that I didn't enjoy and didn't take the left overs home. I'm kicking myself for having to spent so much.

Yelp
I wouldn't insult Chinese food by saying this is the worst Chinese food ever, I would say this is the worst food I have ever had in the world from a restaurant. Being from San Francisco I have been raised in and accustomed to excellent cuisine in our city. This place needs to close their doors. The food does not taste anything like any Chinese food, but more importantly it is so salty that you cannot enjoy it. And, the flavors are so unpleasant that you also cannot eat it. I am going to throw $60 worth of food in the toilet. Forget about what I ordered, what I have experienced means nothing here will be edible.

Yelp
Had high expectations when I ordered delivery for dinner from Lazy Susan through DoorDash, but the food was sadly underwhelming. My order included: shrimp chow mein, sautéed string beans, mapo tofu, and General Tso's chicken (free since my order was $45+). They throw in fortune cookies and sriracha packets. The chow mein was way too salty, as if there was an extra bucket of soy sauce that was dumped onto it. On the opposite end were the string beans, which were completely tasteless. They did help balance out the intense chow mein flavors when mixed together, but don't think that was the actual intention of the dishes. The mapo tofu was slightly spicy without any depth of flavor and completely swimming in oil. General Tso's chicken was the only satisfactory dish, but completely average (FYI the side of broccoli = 2 steamed pieces of broccoli, completely unseasoned). Given the hype around the restaurant and the founding story, I was excited to try their spin as the "better version" of Chinese takeout. Unfortunately, the food totally missed the mark. I'll be sticking to the classic Chinese takeout places in SF like Tenglong in the Richmond.

Yelp
We've ordered delivery from here a couple of times & it wasn't outstanding but was good enough. Tonight however will be the last, it was terrible. We ordered sesame chicken, rice, vegetable Chow Mein & pot stickers. Everything was disappointing- flavor was lacking on all fronts. Vege Chow Mein contained only cabbage & onion - no broccoli, carrot, mushroom, etc). Rice was not cooked all way so texture was off. Sesame chicken had a bit more flavor but the pork potstickers were so bland, just no flavor. This was a waste of money and a meal unfortunately.

Yelp
I ordered hot and sour soup and chicken chowmin yesterday. I was very curious to taste the food. But it was horrible . Mainly , the hot and sour soup was just like worst than the water. The chowmin was also dissapointing. I strongly request everyone not to order any food from here.

Yelp
I work in the neighborhood and decided to try something new after work, and after passing by many times finally decided to give here a try. Service was incredibly quick and the staff were kind, especially the girl who took my order. The food portions are plentiful and tasty as well.

Yelp
I ordered this delivered recently wanting to try some place new. I was in the mood for some typical Americanized Chinese Food dishes and I've had varying luck with the places in my neighborhood. Usually I love one of the dishes I order, but haven't been able to find a place I loved every dish, until now... This place is doing a sort of modern twist on the old school Americanized Chinese classics. Let's go dish by dish. The Orange Chicken was my favorite of the bunch. High quality tender chicken, wrapped in a nice breading with deliciously gooey orange sauce and amazing contrast of flavors with the Fresno Chilies and Crispy Fried Garlic on top. The one slight knock is the coating got a little soggy, but still had some crispiness in spots so I'm guessing that'd be much crispier if it hadn't had the delivery time and microwave heat up. The Broccoli Beef was awesome too, with really nice quality beef, perfectly cooked broccoli, and some nice onions and carrot strings. I love that they leave the broccoli crowns cut separately and turn the rest of the stalk into medallions so it all cooks to the same amount and doesn't have any chewy stalky bits. Those details are something I definitely notice and appreciate. The Chicken Fried Rice had this really nice underlying flavor that had a depth and complexity to it that kind of reminded me of Benihana a bit, so I'm guessing that they use a decent amount of butter? I think that's pretty non-standard but it turns out great. I felt like I also got some good wok chi here as well. Again, the chicken bits were plump, tender, and absolutely delicious. The egg rolls were the weakest of the bunch, as they seemed a bit soggy despite my reheating of them in my toaster oven. I'm not sure if this is just the result of the delivery or not, but perhaps could have been cooked in oil not quite hot enough or perhaps the cabbage released a lot of moisture from the inside. Still tasty though, just not the best texturally. I'm really glad I found this gem, will definitely be a repeat customer!

Yelp
We went for takeout which was ready on time. Dining in seems like an afterthought for this place - wouldn't have considered it. Less a restaurant and more like a fast food joint. Hard to replace New Tsing Tao which was once in this space! The service was fine but the food really was not. I've had a lot of Chinese food in this town and wouldn't likely return here. Primarily taste (funky aftertaste) and freshness (soggy pot stickers and food that seemed like it was sitting a long while before we got to it) were the issues. One other issue was an environmental one: They use plastic containers for their takeout. I get it - some dishes need it. For most dishes though, please use the tried and true paper Chinese take out boxes!!! They've never failed me. I think we could all use a lot less plastic in our lives.

Yelp
Taste: 5 Value: 5 Service: got delivery What a cool concept! I have yet to try Mister Jiu's (it's on the list). I really appreciate the idea behind this establishment. The chefs have taken staple Chinese take out and made it a bit more colorful, a little less greasy, and hopefully slightly more healthy. I do enjoy a Panda Express entree item or two when I'm craving Chinese food at the mall (hopefully this doesn't affect my credibility!), but Lazy Susan takes all of my go to dishes to the next level even from the dirty dirty authentic establishments in Chinatown. We got several things to share, family style. First, the appetizers. We got the hot and sour soup, which for chow mein - we got one with beef and one with chicken. Both had extremely al dente noodles with tender pieces of meat.

Yelp
Have ordered delivery from this spot a few times and I like what they're doing - slightly elevated Americanized Chinese staples. Definitely get: orange chicken or general tso's. Crispy and flavorful. Crab Rangoon also great Get: dry fried aromatic chicken and pepper steak also very good Maybe skip: I didn't love the flavor hot and sour soup though it was unique. Sautéed string beans were cooked well the but the sauce a little bitter for my taste Overall a fan

Yelp
We heard about this place from Eater. Tried three dishes: Crab Rangoon, Sautéed String Beans, Shrimp Fried Rice. Crab Rangoon didn't taste of crab at all. It tasted briny in a weird way. We liked the string beans. However, the fried rice was the worst we ever had. It was wet and clumpy. We may give this place another try when we're in the neighborhood. We just feel that it's very similar to many other Chinese restaurants in every SF neighborhood except for their weird name.

Yelp
To eat at Lazy Susan, it helps to understand their vision. In a city full of authentic dining experiences and Michelin stared restaurants you'd expect anything new to compete at the highest level, but Lazy Susan does the opposite. Eater SF says they are "... focused on serving what it promises will be better versions of the Chinese-American takeout dishes that so many people have grown up eating." For me, this is why I sought out Lazy Susan. I called first as the website quoted 183 minutes delivery time. The employee was extremely helpful, delivered great customer service, and eager to have me order. She recommended I place an order ahead for the next day, which I did. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken and Crab Rangoon. Wow! The crab Rangoon were what I always expected. Full of crab and delicious flavor. The General Tso's Chicken was made with white meat chicken and had a crispy outside. It came with fresh broccoli. There wasn't extra sauce. And I'd say the sauce formed a caramel glaze over the chicken. Sooo good! What Lazy Susan has going for it is it's awesome branding and website. The website is colorful, easy to use, and has a simple order platform. I liked that the menu was simple, offered traditional favorites, but also had some unique touches (like the Lazy Susan Sriracha. I can't wait to order delivery again to try more!

Yelp
Current hours are 5pm-9:30pm. I wish this place was open for lunch. I work nearby and would love a different food spot option to have on weekdays. I'm not sure of the exact date of when Lazy Susan will close but a yellow sign taped outside says "B-Side will return Winter 2021". The B-Side Restaurant website says they'll return when SFJAZZ performances begin. SFJAZZ performances start this week on Sept 23rd and I didn't want to have FOMO so I ordered food yesterday (9.18.21). Beef chow mein- I thought this was very good and there was plenty of greens but IMO needs a few more pieces of beef. It wasn't too salty like other reviewers mentioned. Orange chicken- This wasn't good. A few pieces of chicken had a nice crisp to it. I didn't get to eat this til I got home after running an errand and going home 2 hours later after picking up the food. Maybe had I eaten it right away, all the chicken would have had a crispy outside. The chicken was dry and stringy= a bit hard to chew. I personally didn't like this kind of orange chicken (dark brown). I prefer the more orange looking ones like at Panda Express. I'm not a fan of Panda Express by the way. Wound up tossing about half of the chicken away. I hate wasting food but I couldn't eat this anymore. Umami crunch- I am a sucker for anything garlic and fermented black beans! Although a bit pricy, this was very good! Tip- a little goes a long way. The male employee that took my order was so friendly and helpful! I hope he can work at B-Side some time. Haha! Parking- street parking if you're lucky. If you've pre-ordered and picking up, there's a curb in front that you can park at for a few minutes while you go in to grab your food. There's a Walgreen's on the corner (free parking lot) to buy drinks if the ones offered here don't interest you. I hope Lazy Susan stays around and moves to another great pop up location.
