"An offshoot of the popular Union Square South-East Asian restaurant Laut, and located just a few blocks north of it, Laut Singapura is worth a visit for dishes like the roti telur, an Indian-style flaky flatbread stuffed with onions, chile, scallions, and served with a curry dip; the nasi lemak, which comes with coconut rice, the Indonesian spice paste sambal, anchovies, beef rendang, and a crispy fried egg on top; and the Indian mee goreng, a type of noodle dish that’s served at street carts in Singapore. The space is definitely a bit over the top with its green velvet seats, marble tables, and gold lotus-shaped mirrors on the wall, but the food is deeply flavorful.
