"A Charleston Mexican restaurant that's become a holiday institution over the past 21 years, it covers every inch of the dining room, bar, and outdoor seating with extravagant, colorful twinkling lights, quirky ornaments, and baubles collected by partner Javier Valladares. Valladares admits he keeps buying more decorations despite promising not to, and helps deck all three locations; customers regularly fall in love with the over-the-top displays and take photos and videos. Opened in 2003 by owner Santiago Zavalza on Meeting Street Road, the place famously started with a ceiling-hung Christmas tree inspired by a French display. The festive atmosphere is matched by a well-regarded Mexican menu, notably al pastor tacos, caldo de res, chilaquiles, and enchiladas." - Erin Perkins
