"Los Angeles’s legendary Sky’s Gourmet Tacos deserves all the best dining flowers. Owner Barbara “Sky” Burrell has spent more than 30 years slinging soul food along with what we lovingly call Black tacos, where folks from the African diaspora put their own flavorful spin on the classic Mexican dish. She simply makes what she loves with a menu that has something for everyone: reasonably priced lunch platters for less than $10, an extensive vegan and vegetarian taco selection, and turkey breakfast tacos served all day. Though all of the tacos satisfy, I often go for the marinated lobster taco with shredded lettuce and salsa verde, whose flavor is wonderfully smoky; burritos are available but I’d rather grab nachos that can be mixed and matched in awesome iterations.
