"Opened March 8 as a pint-sized, takeout-only outpost at 2939 W. Grand Avenue near the border of Humboldt Park and West Town, this bakehouse has seen an “amazing reception” with bagels, babka, and black-and-white cookies flying out the door. Owner Aaron Steingold says delivery is on the way, but for now the shop offers only prepared-ahead, grab-and-go items — classics like lox and schmear and inventive creations such as hotchallah buns stuffed with pastrami, egg, and cheese — plus grab-and-go corned beef by the pound and deli containers of schmaltzy potato salad made on site. There’s no seating inside and no dine-in is planned, though the team hopes to add a few outdoor picnic tables on weekends; Steingold also hopes to offer made-to-order options within the next month. Open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday through Sunday; order online via Toast." - Naomi Waxman
