"After 27 years in business, Oak Hill staple Austin Pizza Garden is closing. Its last day at 6266 U.S. 290 will be Sunday, January 17. Austin Pizza Garden opened in 1994 in the historic James A. Patton building, a rustic rock building that opened as a general store back in 1898. Austin Pizza Garden was a distinctive landmark on the way out of Austin on 290, and was known as a friendly place for its signature pizzas, salads, sandwiches, and local draft beers, as well as its large outdoor patio. An employee of Austin Pizza Garden told Eater that the closure was due to diminished sales during the COVID-19 pandemic, joining the dozens of restaurants in Austin and over 10,000 across the state that have closed for the same reason. He also shared there is a possibility that the restaurant would reopen in a new location." - Erin Russell
