"West Seattle should prep for a new era at the Alki Homestead soon. The iconic building, which was built in 1904 and restored after a 2009 fire, will be the home for acclaimed chef Mike Easton’s upcoming Italian restaurant Il Nido this spring. From all accounts, construction for the eatery looks to be moving along at a decent clip. Il Nido is currently slated for an opening in “May-ish,” according to the restaurant’s official Instagram page, and Easton has been keeping fans informed through regular updates on social media. Given the location and the popularity of Easton’s Pioneer Square pasta hot spot, Il Corvo, this has been one of Seattle’s most anticipated openings of 2019. Though the menu has not been finalized yet, dishes might include lighter Sicilian-inspired fare in the summer and Northern Italian stuffed pasta in the colder months. As for the design, Easton recently revealed to West Seattle Blog that there will be seating for 64 people inside (with additional seating for 20 in a new outdoor patio), vertical grain fir floors, a log mantle, and a wine wall that visitors will see right when they first walk in. The results, which the Instagram photos hint at, show subtle modern touches that complement the Alki Homestead’s old school, log cabin vibe." - Gabe Guarente
