"Oaxacan-style taco truck El Rey del Taco isn’t new to the Triangle, but it recently parked itself permanently at East Durham’s Sofia Pizza (the two businesses have the same owners). With a wide range of tacos, tortas the size of a child’s head (no kidding), quesadillas, and rotating specials, El Rey del Taco looks poised to peel off some of the hungry sandwich lovers who wait in line for Ideal’s just a block away. Go for traditional taco fillings like beef asado or pork carnitas, or expand culinary horizons with buche (pork stomach) or cabeza (a slow-cooked, pulled beef cheek). The campechana torta (asado, chorizo, lettuce, tomato, onion, chipotle mayo, avocado, sliced jalapeños, and a side of salsa) is a must, and the Philly campechana, with a choice of grilled steak or chicken with mushrooms, is a fun mashup." - Matt Lardie
