"I watched the fast-growing Bucharest Grill return to its roots with the opening of its downtown location at 436 W. Columbia St.; what began as a carryout counter inside the Park Bar left the arena district more than two years ago, and owner Bogdan Tarasov — after opening a galaxy of new locations around the city — kept an eye on downtown real estate and eventually bought a building on the border of the evolving entertainment district to bring the brand back. The newly opened restaurant is the largest in Bucharest’s fleet, with approximately 130 seats and a 24-tap bar (a first for the chain). The menu features Bucharest shawarma, falafel wraps, schnitzel plates, and eggplant dip, and there’s a small oven on site that opens the possibility for late-night pizzas or fresh pita bread; photographers Michelle and Chris Gerard visited to scope out the new space." - Brenna Houck
