"Take respite from the industrial chaos of Atlantic Avenue at Brooklyn Noosh. Derived from the saying “noosheh jan,” meaning “may this food nourish your soul,” this Persian tavern plays old school Iranian music and serves classic chicken kebab. Marinated in spice with a touch of lemon (the key to “joojeh kebab”), these chicken skewers with grilled vegetables are served over buttered saffron rice, and taste like a family cookout. “Mehmoonis,” or big family picnic parties, are bedrock to Persian culture. Grilled tomatoes are always served on the side; yet another delicious detail Brooklyn Noosh gets spot-on. Their lentil soup is also warming. In the summer months, lounge in a beautiful backyard patio — you just have to walk through a Japanese dojo-style event room first (yes, really). For Nowruz, the restaurant is planning a traditional white fish with rice meal, as well as a classic rarely found outside of homes and Iran itself: ab-ghoosht, an extraordinary lamb two-ways dish." - Samir Ferdowsi
