Don Luchi Prosecco Launches in Lowcountry Bottle Shops and Bars | Eater Carolinas

"Launched this summer by entrepreneur Justin Wages with partners David Kinloch and Andre Grundy, this minority-owned prosecco rapidly became one of the top-selling labels of its kind worldwide. Wages — who founded the lifestyle brand Dope & Rare in 2015 and has experience sourcing and manufacturing — pivoted from an earlier, unsuccessful beer effort to sparkling wine after a rosé tasting sparked his interest. Over about a year and a half he cultivated a partnership with a vineyard in Italy, developing the product through FaceTime calls, sample shipments, label design and a March visit to inspect the vineyard and production facility; he chose prosecco over Champagne because the region is more accessible and offers better price points. Since launch the prosecco has reportedly sold out at every store that stocked it and is being carried by a variety of restaurants and retailers." - Erin Perkins
