"Opened in November (as of November 21) at 1101 South MoPac Expressway in Zilker, this a.m. restaurant serves an American-Texan menu for breakfast, lunch, and brunch and operates daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Menu highlights preserve a heavy emphasis on egg-forward and bready comfort dishes: eggs Benedicts with masa cakes and spicy chorizo; smoked pastrami hash; breakfast enchiladas with sunny side up eggs and roasted chicken; croque-madames; eggy smash burgers; bacon-chive waffles; churro pancakes; and coconut-maple-glazed cinnamon rolls. There is a full bar offering cocktails (espresso martinis, vodka-spiked Orange Juliuses; yuzu Aperol spritzes), nonalcoholic options, fresh juices, and a coffee bar with espresso and coffee drinks. Behind the operation are co-owners chef Jack Gilmore and Tom Kamm, chief culinary officer Chris TenEyck, and beverage director David Toby, with chef Forrest Briwa—previously executive chef of Salt Traders and Jack Allen’s—running the kitchen. The space features murals by Mike Johnston and Erin Johnston of Team Truth and, per the press release, is described as having a whole “day-drinking vibe,”; it shares the same address as Salt Traders’ second location and offers indoor dine-in service. The opening continues a local trend of established restaurants expanding into daytime dining and drinking." - Nadia Chaudhury
