The First Annual Tamale Festival Debuts This Saturday | Eater New Orleans

"On January 6 from noon to 6:30 p.m. I’ll be at Poor Boys Bar in St. Bernard for the New Orleans Tamale Festival celebrating the Delta-style tamale; expect red chili pork tamales, vegan black bean and corn tamales, chicken tamales, cheese tamales, and a tamale filled with chocolate and strawberries. There will be live music, a crowning of the Tamale King and Queen, and a tamale-eating contest. There’s no cost to enter, though donations will be accepted." - Stephanie Carter
