"Opening Tuesday, February 22, I’m writing about a 2,752-square-foot Sweetgreen outpost at Beacon La Costa in Carlsbad: the fast-casual salad chain — which counts tennis phenom Naomi Osaka among its investors — is just now entering the San Diego market with this location. Decorated with SoCal-inspired artwork by local artist Sara Marlowe, it serves a seasonal menu of bowls and salads centered on fresh produce delivered daily; popular items include the Kale Caesar and Harvest Bowl, while winter specials feature the Crispy Chicken Salad and a Miso Bowl with sunchokes or beets. In Carlsbad, the Chicken Pesto Parm and Buffalo Chicken bowls are finished with za’atar breadcrumbs made using bread from Pacific Beach’s Hommage Bakehouse. From 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on February 22 the location will donate a meal to the North County chapter of the San Diego Food Bank for every meal sold, and Sweetgreen’s chief operating officer Chris Carr told Eater the LA-based company is actively looking to open more restaurants in the San Diego area." - Candice Woo
