"Opening in the former 12th & Porter building in the Gulch, Nashville, this new house music nightclub aims to give the city a dedicated home for pulsing house beats and packed dance floors, launching with a grand-opening lineup that features Kyle Watson and Lux Velour. Backed by Jim and Allison Knight and programmed by their son Austin Knight—who has been active in Nashville’s electronic scene through the Deep Tropics festival, Full Circle Presents, and the Decompress parties—the club grew out of a local house community that needed a consistent outlet. The name was inspired by Fatima Yamaha’s electronic cut “Day We Met,” and Night We Met is intended to evoke memory and nostalgia. The venue is split into two rooms, both outfitted with Void Acoustic Sound Systems and art installations (including a wrought-iron metal face by Nimrod Messeg and a bronze amethyst torso by James Lomax), and it pairs creative booking flexibility with an explicit sustainability mission: a zero-waste program (composting, recycling, no single-use plastics) overseen by head of sustainability Joel Atchison, who will work with third parties and Green Disco Group to measure waste and carbon footprint. The bar program—led by Owen Gibler and Harrison Drost—features kegged cocktails for about 25 percent of the menu (espresso martinis, Palomas, Old Fashioneds) and practices ingredient reuse (for example, using lime peel for cordial, juicing or freezing lime, dehydrating slices for garnish, and composting leftovers). Overall, the club is intended to further develop the Southern dance-music scene while highlighting local, national, and global DJs and producers." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones
