"For more than a decade this family-run mercado and taqueria has been a comforting Southwest Detroit mainstay, known for generously portioned chilaquiles verdes served with flavorful cecina and hearty platters of tacos. The spacious dining room is festooned with colorful papel picado, Mexican tchotchkes, and family photos, while the cashier area features sweet-and-spicy Mexican candies and rosary beads. A full market component includes a butcher counter with tender arrachera, a cooler stocked with icy chelas, and bags of chicharrones made daily—together creating the feel of a vibey backyard carne asada with friends.
