"85°C Bakery Café, a popular Taiwan-based chain nicknamed the “Starbucks of Taiwan,” is opening a new Seattle-area location. Known for its staggering ubiquity and rabid following, the bakery specializes in iced sea salt coffee and fresh breads and pastries such as Asian-style brioche buns, Western-style sweets like apple pie and macarons. The new location is set up in the Chinatown-International District, at 5th and Jackson Street, across from the Link light rail station. The official opening day at 501 S. Jackson St. is Friday, January 18, with special promotions including 10 cent medium iced sea salt coffees and giveaways of mugs and tote bags. The chain already operates three other locations in the area: Federal Way, Tukwila, and Lynnwood." - Megan Hill
