"Odd Duck was a leader in the farm-to-table revolution in Austin when it opened in 2009, and is still making some of the best food in the city with a creative, ever-changing menu of small plates from chef Bryce Gilmore. Dishes at the casual Zilker restaurant might include braised goat pizza with pecan mole, spicy redfish chalupa, and tres leches made with cocoa nibs and grapefruit, all served within a rustic, homey dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in a muted natural light. Don’t leave without one of its cocktails, which include palomas on draft, frozen margaritas, and an earthy Six Beet From the Edge, made with mezcal, tequila, Peychaud’s, rosemary-beet syrup, and lemon. Diners can also build their own Old Fashioned, choosing from a list of the restaurant’s top-shelf spirits, which is then mixed with Odd’s signature spiced syrup and Angostura bitters. Know before you go: Reserve in advance; seating options include indoor and outdoor tables or a spot at the wraparound bar to watch the open kitchen at work." - Erin Russell
