Austin Italian Restaurant Intero Opens New Gelato Truck Piccola Gelateria | Eater Austin
"A small gelato truck launching in summer and parked outside the Frances Modern Inn’s Italian cafe at 1123 East 11th Street, offering scoops of gelato and sorbets with rotating, inventive flavors. Gelato selections include roasted white chocolate, pistachio, amaretto, cinnamon, espresso, and golden fig, while sorbets feature a seasonal fruit (currently Texas blueberry) plus dark chocolate, coconut, and hibiscus beet. Customers can add pizzelles (Italian waffle cookies) to orders. The menu is overseen by a co-owner who runs the restaurant chocolate program and who began her career at an iconic local ice cream shop; the truck’s name means “small ice cream shop.” For its opening it is running a $1-scoop special (limit three per person, 11 a.m.–9 p.m. or until sold out) and then half-off scoops through the first week; regular hours are daily, 11 a.m.–9 p.m." - Nadia Chaudhury
