"Latkes are kind of the perfect fast casual addition, and an all-day pita shop in NoHo adds them for the week of Hanukkah (Dec. 12-22, 2025), fried to order. Shifka's celebratory crispy latke is inspired by Iraqi Aruk , a fried, herbaceous root vegetable patty typically enjoyed by Iraqi Jews during Hanukkah. Shifka’s latke blends potato, onion, scallions, parsley, and cilantro, all seasoned with an in-house spice mix of cumin, paprika, and baharat, a blend of allspice, cinnamon, and rose." - Melissa Kravitz Hoeffner
