Pita shop with Harissa chicken, lamb kebab, cauliflower shawarma

"Latkes are kind of the perfect fast casual addition, and an all-day pita shop in NoHo adds them for the week of Hanukkah (Dec. 12-22, 2025), fried to order. Shifka's celebratory crispy latke is inspired by Iraqi Aruk , a fried, herbaceous root vegetable patty typically enjoyed by Iraqi Jews during Hanukkah. Shifka’s latke blends potato, onion, scallions, parsley, and cilantro, all seasoned with an in-house spice mix of cumin, paprika, and baharat, a blend of allspice, cinnamon, and rose." - Melissa Kravitz Hoeffner

"A pita shop from the Sami & Susu team stuffs harissa chicken, lamb kebab, and cauliflower shawarma into fluffy pitas, with bowls, dips, beer, and wine rounding out the fast-casual menu." - Tierney Plumb
"We had been sneaking over toSami & Susufor lunchtime pitas for a while now, so we’re pretty excited to check out Shifka, their shop in Noho. Your choice of one of their six mains, including cauliflower shawarma, schnitzel, and lamb kabab, is stuffed into a pita from Angel Bakery in New Jersey, along with pickles, salad, tahini, and a shifka, their namesake pickled pepper. Or you can get them on a bowl with rice and freekeh. They have some other dips and smaller items as well to eat in a small, bright space with some seating." - Will Hartman

"A new pita shop from the team behind Sami & Susu, this spot opens today with a menu of harissa chicken, lamb kebab, and cauliflower shawarma pitas, plus bowls, dips, beer, and wine, at 324 Bowery near Bleecker Street." - Melissa McCart

"This small, bright Noho storefront felt like weekday lunch that won’t crush your soul, with a chain-in-the-making energy that I’d welcome; for $15 I had a warm pita filled with crisp-creamy eggplant, a soft-boiled egg, and a big dollop of aïoli spiced with the pickled-mango condiment amba. That amba also appears in a white-chocolate soft serve dessert, and before dessert you can grab za’atar fries, a big serving of labneh, or other pitas filled with lamb kebab and peppers or a crunchy chicken schnitzel with zhoug." - Grub Street
