"The Honolulu-rooted chain’s comeback plate features Spam ramen–adjacent offerings like garlic shrimp and barbecue-style grilled meats served with rice and a scoop of macaroni salad for $19.25; the combination included a deboned chicken thigh, a slice of beef and a thin cross-section of short rib coated in a salty teriyaki glaze. The short rib, grilled until crisp at the edges, stood out, while the unsliced beef could be a bit tough. Overall it’s a competent plate of grilled meats but not particularly special, and not really worth queuing for." - Tammie Teclemariam
