"A high-rated, yard-style jerk operation near the northern end of the subway line (around 225th Street in the Bronx) set up behind a small blue house with grills arranged outside beside an overgrown garden. Service is direct and informal: meats are pulled straight off the charcoal, chopped on a well-used cutting board and boxed with a slice of white bread; the menu lists sausage and ribs but by later afternoon chicken is often the main option. The cook hacks leg joints into bite-size pieces and offers hot or mild sauce; the food is solid and authentic in presentation, but in the reviewer’s experience it didn’t live up to the romanticized ambiance or justify a long trip." - Tammie Teclemariam
