"Tierra Peru is a Peruvian restaurant in Islington run by two brothers. And chances are it’ll be Cesar who greets you with a smile and later encourages you to give in and order the deliciously sweet picarones for dessert. The buffet is on Sundays and you’ll get the full, extended family feel. Groups spoon from clay pots of nutty, sweet quinoa and crispy, fatty chicharrón. A TV plays in the background like it might at home, and like at home, everyone ignores it in favour of the debate they’re having and a comforting plate of tamalito de pollo. On birthdays, in peak, fun uncle fashion, staff crack out guitars to serenade diners. It’s just that kind of lovely, celebratory spot." - sinead cranna, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak
